January? Huh? What?
For those wondering why my blog hasn't been updated in a month, the answer is this:
I haven't taken a trip to Italy and watched endless amounts of TV and DVDs.
I haven't shot a $30,000 short film.
I haven't posed naked in a Darth Vader helmet.
So what the hell am I supposed to be posting about? All the movies I've seen? (I saw two). My New Year's activities? (I had none). Being a photo double for "Stiffs"? (due to weather conditions, my shoot was rescheduled). Oh, I know, how about The Steelers? Yeah, we kick ass. I've been wearing as much black & gold as I can to work. Unfortunately, I don't have too much Steelers gear, so I had to improvise with black & and yellow long & short-sleeve t-shirts.
I saw two movies recently: "Underworld: Evolution," and "Glory Road." "Underworld" was surprisingly entertaining and gory, even a little complicated. I'm not a huge fan of the first, but recognize it as a moderately imaginative b-movie. "Evolution" is a little more fx-oriented, less gun-oriented, but bloodier. I liked it. 3/5. "Glory Road" is a formula sports movie through and through, but being based on a true story, it carries with it a little more oomph (then again, i guess most sports stories these days are based on real life: ex "Friday Night Lights," "The Rookie."). Josh Lucas is slowly becoming a solid leading man. I think he's got the screen presence for it, and here, playing a revered basketball who puts together the nation's first all-black b-ball team, he rarely if ever doesn't hold the film together. 3/5.
I also watched "Red Eye," which sucked and wasn't scary at all. Rachel McAdams is pleasant to look at, though. Very predictable. 1.5/5.
Future viewings include: "Grizzly Man," "Lord of War," and hopefully "Brokeback Mountain" and "New World."
TV: Keeping up with "Lost" and "The Office" through iTunes, but I have to catch up on "24" before tonight's new episode.
Have I told you all how much I like Dos Equis?
Back to work.
