This past week
Lisa came up for the weekend. She and the 'rents stopped by on Saturday to watch the game and eat food, including my mom's homemade Black Forest Cake, which was so good I almost didn't believe she made it (she did). ND kicked ass against Purdue, much to my surprise. And then the fam left. They went to Cape Cod Sunday-Tuesday, so I didn't get to spend much time with Lisa at all. I was pissed Tuesday night when they said it wasn't worth it for me to drive down to the house to see her before she left on Wednesday. What do you mean it's not worth it? I'm not going to see her until Thanksgiving, which is two months from now! So I got all mad over the phone and hung up on my mom and wouldn't call anyone back. I'm such a child sometimes. But anyway, Mom and Lisa surprised me for lunch on Wednesday by showing up at the office. Awww. Here's the picture my mom took:

I don't look happy for two reasons: 1) This is just before I have to go back to work, and 2) The sun is in my eyes.
Anyway, it was nice of them to surprise me. Thanks Lisa.
Sunday I met up with Lori for a bit. I don't even remember what we did. I think we went out to eat and came back to my place before she had to leave for poker night.
And then Monday was Laguna Night with Lori. We had missed it last week because I was in Austin, so it was mucho importante that we catch up. I ordered takeout, we ate, watched Laguna, then watched the horror that is "My Super Sweet Sixteen." The fact that 15/16-year-olds have birthday parties that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars is one thing -- that's to be expected, this is America -- but to broadcast it on MTV and promote the envy of every other 15-16 year old there is the real problem. We don't need more of this, we need less, and it scares me that this show is now becoming popular.
Tuesday was Tuesday.
On Wednesday Lori left work early cuz she had been in the office since 4am. She called to see when I'd be leaving work, and given that both my bosses were gone for the day, that prompted an early exit for me around 3pm. It's called hookey, and it's a good thing to do every once in a while.
We met up at my place, shat the shit, and then decided to play basketball for 2 hours. Yeah. We played some game of hers called "Chance" where you have to make so many shots in a row around the court, and if you miss one you can say "Chance" to get one more shot, but if you miss that, you have to start all over again at the original shot location. Long story short, neither one of us made all the shots. I got close, but was too cocky and missed a key "chance." She ended up winning in general after we just decided to see who could make 4 shots in a row. It had gotten so dark at that point that we couldn't even see the ball. It was the first time I had played bball since that one pickup game at ND more than 3 years ago. And I still suck.
After that, Lori had a strong desire to see if Gap had a pair of men's sweatpants she wanted. So we drove to the outlets across the way and, unfortunately, all the stores were closed. Even Crate & Barrel, which Lori has discovered she loves. She dotes on the catalogues I get in the mail, and I think it's the real reason she comes over to my place. After peering through the windows of C&B, Lori went home for a bit, only to return at about 10:30 with a video, workclothes for the next day, and a package of Jiffy Pop popcorn you cook on the stove (that giant foil bubble scares me, it can't be safe). Anyway, she wouldn't tell me what the movie was, only that it was really funny and that I needed to watch it so that I could "get" all the quotes she steals from it. The movie was "Love Stinks," the 1999 comedy starring French Stewart, Brigitte Wilson, Bill Bellamy, and Tyra Banks. Needless to say, I was skeptical. But it turned out to be corny funny. I laughed, she laughed, and then she fell asleep on the couch. She had been up since 4am, so I could see why she'd be so damn tired. I went to bed, woke her up the next morning, and then it was off to work for the both of us.
Thursday was nothing. My boss came back from vacation and it sucked. Work today (Friday) was no better. But after work Lori got me to go to the Gap outlet and I purchased a few things dirt cheap that made the day worth it.
Hurray, the weekend is here and I'm going to see "A History of Violence" on Saturday with the 'rents, work on Sunday, and then enjoy another Laguna Night on Monday. In my opinion, the first day of the week should really be Monday, cuz the lives of the entire population -- and time itself -- revolves around new episodes of "Laguna" and whether or not LC will ever get Stephen. It's a proven fact.

Stephen says: The spiked-hair retard look...is IN.
