Weekend recap

After work on Friday, one of my co-workers arranged a happy hour down the street at Pizzeria UNO (which everyone mistakenly calls "Uno's" -- idiots). I arrived late because I hemmed & hahhed about it for an hour, trying to figure who would be there (Gary? Lori?), who I would sit with, what I would drink, what excuses I could use to leave early, etc. It ended up being pretty fun because Lori and her roommate Brian are both from Pittsburgh (Bridgeville, no less), and they're not married like everyone else I work with. The conversation was slightly less stilted than normal for me, thanks in part to Brian and I's obsession with Chuck E Cheese's pool of balls (Josh knows what I'm talking about). From what I can tell, they're good people, so here's hoping I don't scare them off with my losing personality.

On Saturday I went into Boston with my parents to do a little shopping, but mainly to get my mom her belated birthday present. At one point, my dad had to leave to get his $50 haircut, so my mom and I were left at H&M browsing through crazy Euro fashion that only looks good if you live in a cosmopolitan city like Boston and don't work at a manufacturing plant in New Hampshire like I do. Everything's real tight and colorful. Nevertheless, I bought a couple short-sleeve shirts that I think my sister would approve of. $10 each! After that we went to Marshall's, and my mom found her present: some Bath & BodyWorks rip-off basket with soap and room spray. Hey, it's her gift.

On Sunday I woke up to see it still raining, meaning I just couldn't mow the lawn (darn!). I met up with Mom & Dad (again) at Loew's for a 4:00 showing of "The Interpreter," which was incredibily uninteresting and gutless. Then I came home and caught the all new "Family Guy," which was hilarious, then "American Dad," which wasn't. "Family Guy's" main storyline about Mel Gibson seemed like a retread of better South Park and Simpsons episodes. And the show is definitely showing it's liberal-nesss. Stewey has grown on me to such a point that almost everything he says makes me laugh. Even the little bit where he dreams he's sitting on a porch in like the 1800's and says "Mmm, it's good to have land." Then I cracked up when Peter remembered the time he forgot how to sit -- cut to a shot of him looking at a chair, and then dive-crashing into it. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hmmm. Oh, well you had to be there.
