The Lineup

While ya'll are watching the big 2-hour "OC" event - god, I despise how popular that show is -- I'm sitting here staring at the lineup for the Austin City Music Festival, and my mouth's on the floor.

You see, it's not the Coldplays, and the Oasiseseses that excite me. It's Sleater-Kinney. It's Mates of State. It's The Walkmen. It's ARCADE FIRE. This reads like my Top 25 Most Played list on my iPod. It's that good.

Jude categorized his enthusiasm for the artists this way -- I'll do the same:

Definitely Want to See:
Sleater-Kinney, Arcade Fire, Mates of State, The Walkmen, The Black Keys, Bloc Party, Oasis

Definitely Want to See Again:
Wilco, Death Cab For Cutie

Would See:
Coldplay, Allman Brothers Band, Built to Spill, Kasabian, Tortoise, The Doves, The Secret Machines, The Decemberists, The Fiery Furnaces, The Futureheads

Would See Again:
Franz Ferdinand, Spoon (seen them twice now at ACL; really depends on the schedule)

Maybe:
Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, Robert Randolph, Steve Earle & The Dukes, The Bravery, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Frames, Tegan & Sara, Ambulance Ltd.

Don't Think So:
Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, Robert Earl Keen

HELL NO:
Jason Mraz, Keane, Jet

I don't know anything else about the 83 other artists in the lineup. If any readers out there want to educate me, please do:

Jimmy Cliff, John Prine, Buddy Guy, Dierks Bentley, Thievery Corporation, Bob Mould

Brave Combo is a band from Denton, Texas that uses polka as the impetus to do all sorts of styles - Tex mex, jazz, pop, latin, etc.

Their version of "Louie, Louie" is to die for. Plus they were on "The Simpsons"

I saw them about a month ago and danced my butt off.
